This year I am working as team leader and designer for CUC racing; Combined Universities Cornwall, to produce a super efficient electric prototype vehicle for the European Shell Eco-Marathon 2016 in London. Our team consists of numerous members, including Sir Kenneth Grange, Martin Pemberton, Renewable Energy Engineering students at University of Exeter Cornwall Campus, Sustainable Product Design students at Falmouth Universities and even input from Autodesk. Together we are working to not only produce a super efficient competitive vehicle but one which is sustainable by design and make; from sourcing materials to end of life. This is an area which the efficient automotive industry often overlooks in a seek for lightweight efficiency. We aim to showcase innovative new options of producing a lightweight functional vehicle which is sustainable and not constructed of damaging composites with no end of life strategies.
